I was born on June 26th 1979 in Kranj, Slovenia. After elementary school, I completed my primary education at an economics high school. I am currently a third year student at the Faculty of Organizational Science in Kranj.
I began snowboarding in 1991, at the age of 12. I was introduced to the sport by my brother Benjamin, who later also became my first coach.
I entered the world of professional sports through athletics. Among other things, I competed in high jump during elementary school, and achieved notable results in national competitions. After elementary school, I trained tennis for four years. During my childhood and youth, I spent all of my free time training biking, bmx and skateboarding.
Along with snowboarding, windsurfing is the sport that has most marked my life. I started windsurfing in 1994; in this case I was also initiated by my brother. From my first contact with the board, I have been addicted to this discipline. It is more than a sport to me - it is a way of life, and it occupies most of my free time. After 15 years of training, I am most interested in finding ultimate conditions, which means traveling around the world in search of the perfect combination of wind and waves.
Along with my professional snowboarding career, I am also interested in motocross, tennis, kitesurfing, mountain bike downhill and surfing, but I only consider these as hobbies.
In the 2009/2010 season my coach is Gilles Jaquet, three times snowboarding world champion, who has been coaching the Slovenian team since he withdrew from professional sports competition two years ago. My conditioning coach is Dragan Bosnić, professor of biology at the 2nd Gymnasium in Maribor and long-time professional conditioning coach to many leading athletes. My physiotherapist Saša Vogrin has a private practice in Lenart and also works closely with numerous professional athletes. My equipment is serviced by Ivan Dobrila from Opatija, Croatia, who runs a firm with a long and valued tradition of servicing snow sports equipment.
My training sessions in the snow run from August to April. My training schedule of course includes breaks for recovery. As for physical conditioning, I adhere strictly to the plan designed by my conditioning coach Dragan Bosnić. The training consists primarily of specific exercises and a great deal of balance training, as well as a smaller portion of general fitness exercises.
